A Look Back

It has been an event filled week in our "So Suzy Cyber World" and before I get to a few of the card projects that I have been working on, let's do a quick look back at some of the funness!

We had some great cards posted by our amazing Design Team!  Every morning I get a cheery surprise with their pretty cards.   This week we saw some stunning creations by:

Martha Lucia Gomez
Kim Rippere
Monica Taylor
Sharon Smith
Steph Ackerman

Our Anything Goes Challenge is still going on for December and let's face it, we need some love.  The only require is you do need to use a So Suzy Stamp in your project, other than that, it is Anything Goes!  The best part, the winner will receive a $15 gift certificate to So Suzy Stamps and with all of the new stamps coming out in January, it is going to be FAB-U-LOUS!

Name the Peacock Contest is coming to a close, so be sure and vote for your favorite name and you could win our new Peacock stamp AND a $25 gift certificate!   (There is a lot of gift certificate love going around!)

The Pre-Sale Special on our Peacock stamp will be ending on December 15th.  After that, our Nameless Peacock will be sold at the full retail rate.  If you would like to pre-order, please head over to our website and do that ASAP.

The Hobbit: Battle of the Five Armies comes out on December 17th.   One word....EPIC!!!!!

Friday, December 19th is going to be the last of our Countdown to Christmas specials on our website.  So be sure and keep an eye on the website OR if you want a sneak peak as to what the "special" is going to be, be sure and Like our Facebook page.  I have a tendency to give them a pre-cursor heads up, just because I can!  =)    Everyone who has participated in the Countdown to Christmas sales will also be receiving a special gift on Christmas Day!

There are so many new things on our website as well!  I spent the day adding all sorts of fun new embellishments, ribbons and all kinds of cool new things!  Some of which I am going to show you!!!  So be sure and check out the new Fireworks, Smooch Pearlized Accent Ink, Ribbon and Stencils.

Phew!  I told you there was a TON of things that happened this past week!  Which is probably why I still don't have up the family Christmas tree!   Eeeeeek!  But I do have Galaxy Hot Chocolate, so that will have to be good enough for now.  =)

On to the cards!

I have just discovered Fireworks from Imagine Crafts and holy cow, am I EVER IN LOVE!  For this card I used the following supplies:

Dandelion Fluff Set
Art is What I have

Fireworks - Did I mention the colors coordinate with Memento inks?  Oh ya, baby!
Lilac Posies
Grape Jelly

Mini Halftone Circles

Whisper White
Vellum Card Stock

Memento Ink
Tuxedo Black
Grape Jelly

Other Embellishments
White Twine
Slate Skittle
Ink Splat Chipboard
Sugarberry Smooch
Wink of Stella
Crystal Effects
Glue Dots

Before we get started, please keep in mind that this can be VERY MESSY!  But it is such a pretty mess that I didn't mind in the least bit!  Just make sure you have wipes and paper towels on hand.

First, I spritzed my white paper with the Lilac Posies Fireworks.  I didn't spray a lot, just some.

If you are wanting to get the spray in a certain area, please keep in mind that it never will go where you want it to without some "guidance" so find your happy place and have fun spritzing!

As you will notice, mine kind of went all over the place.  I only spritzed it 3 times, because I wanted the white paper to still show through to help with giving it a nice contrast for the Grape Jelly.

When you are choosing which color to spray first, I have found that if you start with the lightest color and build up to the darkest, it helps out a lot with your project!

Once I had the white paper just the way I wanted it, I placed the Mini Halftone Circles Stencil over the paper.  The Fireworks spray dries quickly so you don't have to wait too long before placing the stencil over the sprayed paper.  Then I sprayed it a couple of times with the Lilac Posies Fireworks and then I did a generous spraying with the Grape Jelly Fireworks.

I really wanted to have the Lilac and the Grape colors come through the Stencil, which is why I started with the Lilac Posies and then went to the Grape Jelly when I sprayed the Fireworks.

The best part about the stencil, it only takes a swipe from the paper towel to clean it off.  I wiped it immediately after removing it from the paper, but look how pretty it is!!!!

I think the messes I made with the Fireworks were gorgeous as they were!  Did I mention that the Fireworks SHIMMER?!  Oh talk about sparkly fun!

It may be kind of hard to see the sparkle on the computer, but trust me, it is there.  As soon as I was finished cleaning off my stencil, the paper was dry enough to stamp my Dandelion and the Fluff onto the paper.  I used Grape Jelly ink from Memento, which is my new favorite ink AND it matches the Fireworks so it's a WIN-WIN.

I also inked the Art is What I Have stamp with the Tuxedo Black Memento Ink and stamped it onto the Vellum card stock and adhered it to the paper using Crystal Effects.

I wrapped the white twine around the card front and thought about doing a bow, but it looked like limpy crap.  It was quite sad, so I just wrapped it a few more times and figured it would have to do.  I didn't want ribbon or other embellishments to over-power the Fireworks so the twine was going to have to do.

I did, however, add a Slate Skittle to the middle of the Dandelion!  I LOVED how it looked and the Slate color was subtle enough that it allowed the Fireworks to "shine" through.

I wanted the front of the card to hold its own so I placed some Dimensionals on the back of the paper and adhered it to the front of a white card.

I played around with adding another embellishment to the card, it just wasn't "talking" to me and as much as I wanted to go Skittle happy, I settled on something a little different!

I had these chipboard splotches from Unique Laser Designs and I thought the splotch would be PERFECT to use with the sentiment and the fact that the card looked like a painted canvas.

So I used the Sugarberry Smooch, colored the chipboard, did a top coat of Wink of Stella and adhered it to the front of the card with a Glue Dot.

All in all, I am beyond happy with my new found love of Fireworks and have been having a ball playing with some of the other colors!

Here is another card I made using the Tangelo, Cantaloupe and Rich Cocoa Fireworks.

Check out the Sparkle!!!

Enjoy the rest of your weekend and don't forget to check out some of the neat things we have going on this month!

Until next time,
Happy Stamping!
