Nail Art Inspiration

A few weeks ago I was doing "market research" on Instagram and Pinterest (ya, that's what I call procrastinating while still in bed) and I stumbled onto this cute nail picture and decided that 1) I needed to have Misti do my nails like this and 2) OMG!  How cute would this look as a card?!

Before I could make the card, I would have to get my nails done!  You know?  For prosperity's sake, if nothing else.  What if I didn't like it?  (My husband didn't buy that either!)  Although, truth be told, I LOVE THESE NAILS!  How could the card turn out poorly, right?

Well, let's take a peak, shall we?

Ta Da!

  • I used a standard card size in black
  • Added a layer of Daffodil Delight DSP - 2" x 5.25"
  • Cut out a length of our Black/White May Arts ribbon...which I LOVE!  Seriously, at 50 cents a yard, how can you go wrong?
  • I tucked the ribbon behind the DSP and taped the turned under edges.  I didn't want to put an entire strip of adhesive on the back of the ribbon since it is sheer.
  • Next, I stamped our Flower Doodle onto a piece of white paper using the Memento Tuxedo Black ink.  I love how the Memento ink doesn't smear!!!  I was able to color right after I finished stamping!
  • I wanted to keep the flower in a white daisy color scheme, but I also wanted it to have a touch of cheery color.  I colored some of the accents with the Daffodil Delight markers
  • Next, I colored the outline edge of the circle with a Black Marker.
  • I thought the black was a bit too stark so I took my white gel pen and added some white dots over the black circled center.
  • After it was all colored, I fussy cut around the Flower Doodle, which was easier than I had anticipated.
  • I used a stem Sizzlit and cut out a stem to add some green to the card.
  • I attached the stems to the back of the Flower Doodle with a couple of glue dots
  • Popped a Dimensional onto the back of the flower
  • And adhered that baby to the front of the card.
  • I wasn't happy with the look at first, so I added a Sunshine Yellow Skittle to the middle of the flower and then did a few "floaters" up the card.  I definitely liked the look a lot better!!!!

For the inside of the card I wanted to keep with the flow of the front of the card so I carried the yellow, black and white through.  I also thought it would make a cheery birthday card!

  • I only did a 1" strip of the Daffodil Delight DSP for the inside and I used the skinnier Black and White taffeta ribbon as an accent.
  • I cut out another Flower Doodle and colored it in without using a Sunshine Yellow Skittle
  • I adhered it to the inside of the card with double sided sticky tape
  • Inked up Wish in the Memento Black Ink and voila!  My card was finished!
Simple, easy and it looks great with my nails!  You just never know where you are going to find inspiration for cards.

Until next time,
Happy Stamping!
