The Fun Never Stops

by - January 27, 2015

For those of you who don't know, I am from Arizona and recently moved to New Mexico to be with my hubby.  So I frequently travel back "home" to sunny Arizona to see my family, get in my fabulous food fix and go on mass shopping expeditions!  I used to go twice a month, but I have shortened it to one longer trip each month.  Not sure my wallet knows the difference, but my keister sure does!  Six and a half hours in the car gets pretty butt numbing after a while.  Typically the drive doesn't bother me, it allows me ample amounts of time to think and listen to music and this trip my hubby surprised me with a fun new playlist to listen to!  (Having a DJ for a husband DOES have its benefits!)

The weather was stunning for the drive, the scenery beautiful and just when I thought I would have the evening to relax with my family a trip to Urgent Care was needed for my son.  As crappy as it was to sit in Urgent Care for a couple of hours, Garrett and I had a blast being silly, catching up and having some much needed mother son time.  Plus, I twisted his arm and took him to Pei Wei afterwards!   Woo hoo!!!!  FOOD!!!!!  (Seriously, I don't even have a McDonald's in my town!  It's TRAGIC!)

Between running around, meetings at the school, lots of shopping and several happy hours, I was able to get in some Suzy Time!  I have been working on a present for my brother for his birthday for FIVE YEARS!!!!!    (Talk about the Crappy Sister of the Year Award)  I am happy to report that I spent the afternoon on the patio, soaking up some sun and finished his present!

Waiting to be framed

All Framed Up!
Woo hoo!  While I was having fun cross stitching, my mother was up to her eyeballs in Valentine's Day cards for the little people.  Typically she has me make them for her, but I just haven't had the time lately.  So last year I bullied her into getting a MISTI...yes, I bullied my mother, I am such a horrible daughter.  BUT it was so worth it!

She had 48 cards to make and she has a hard time gripping the blocks for very long with her wrist, but she had nothing to fear, because MISTI was here!

Getting ready for the fun to start

A portion of the cards
The best part was she was able to stamp the front AND the inside of the cards at the same time.  It's amazing what a couple of magnets can do to help speed things up a bit!  I am also happy to announce that for the first time EVER, my mom has made cards that are STRAIGHT!  I know, folks, it's shocking, but oh so pretty!  I am quite proud of my mommy!  :)

After all of her hard work, I must say I was quite exhausted from watching her.  Thankfully, Miss Carri from DoubleClick Connections needed some Suzy time AND had Skittles to deliver so I pried myself away from the fun and festivities and went....SHOPPING!

Can I just say that Carri is an absolute HOOT?!  We had such a fun time being silly, cutting up, getting strange looks from her daughters and enjoying time away from "work".  Although, I did find some atrocious shoes that I tried to talk Carri into using as an inspirational muse for new Skittles.

Pretty sure she didn't like my idea!

Alas, all good things must come to an end and after a couple of hours of silliness it was time to head back to my mom's.  Do you know what was waiting for me?  (Just so you know, I am quite spoiled!)

Yellow Cake with NO frosting!!!!!  It's my birthday next month, but I won't be in Arizona to celebrate so Mom thought it was only fitting to have some birthday fun while I was here!  Told you I was spoiled!

As Mom and I ate cake, she decided it was time to play with the new Skittles I picked up from Carri!  (That was the reason we had to meet up!)  Holy cow!  Wait until you see some of the fun new pictures we have in store for you.  My mom was a staging dervish!!!!  The best part about our play time was matching up Skittles with fun little doo hickeys and this was our first inspiration piece!

Skittle Love

Talk about PERFECT!!!!!  Those are going to be so much fun for February!!!  Did I mention we had fun?  Pretty sure Jordyn isn't going to have much fun this weekend when I make her package all of the new Skittles coming out!  he he he

Sneak Peak
Aren't those just yummy?!

No trip to Arizona is complete without going to IKEA!  My husband was happy to know that I didn't spend any money this trip!  I could hear his sigh of relief all the way at my mom's house!  Of course, that doesn't mean I didn't help my mom spend money!  he he he And a package of cinnamon rolls MAY have found their way into our cart.  :)

I did snap a couple of fun photos that were positively inspiring.

I thought this would be so wonderful to store my Copics in!  Can you imagine a Wall of Copics?!  I was giddy with excitement and one day I will have to take this home with me!  However, the piece de résistance was my new courtyard/studio inspiration!

How FABULOUS IS THIS?!  Twinkle lights, cafe set up for stamping, fake greenery to make it look outdoorsy, oh ya, baby!  I fell in LOVE!  Pretty sure this set up needs to come home with me one trip!

After IKEA, we still had some time to kill before Tracie came over to color so a trip to Hobby Lobby was required.  All I can say is, I LOVE THE AWNING CHALKBOARD IN THE LOWER LEFT HAND CORNER!  I was very tempted to change out the whole studio and do it up in yellow, gray and pink!  It's so cheery!  But I refrained.  It was a TOUGH trip this time around!  Me?  Refrain from buying things I don't "need"?  WHA?????  I do live in New Mexico now, maybe aliens truly have abducted me or did some sort of shopping lobotomy on me.  Oh well, I guess it's for the best, besides Tracie was coming over to color so our trip came to a sad end with my wallet no lighter.

Color Time
This isn't your Kindergarten color time, that's for sure!  Have wine will color...and laugh...and be silly!  The worst part was when Tracie had to go home to the family and be a responsible's so not fair some time!  Because do you know what happened right after she left????

The Girl Scouts came by with COOKIES!!!!  I couldn't let the girls leave without lightening their load, plus, did pulled out his wallet so how could I refuse?  Thanks, Dad!

All good things must come to an end and Tuesday morning came and it was time to hop in my little car and head on back home to my honey bunny!  The Thin Mints are safely in the refrigerator chilling for consumption, orders placed over the long weekend are packaged up and shipped out, my cat is angry at me for being gone for so long, Marley the poochie is happy to have snacks again and my husband is definitely happy to have me home.  (I think he was just happy that I didn't shop more! he he he)

Now that I am home I have a ton of catching up to do, but it's date night so I think it can all wait until tomorrow!

Until next time,
Happy Stamping!
