Floral Easter Wishes

Good morning everyone - Jennifer here with another watercolor card for our March challenge. I love making watercolor backgrounds for my cards with Distress Inks. They're messy, fun, easy, and really make whatever I then add to the card pop.

See what I mean? The white tag winds up framed by the watercolors behind it and really stands out. So, how did I make this one - start with a 4.25"x5.5" piece of watercolor paper. I used the Tim Holtz precut ones as I'm lazy, but you can also easily just cut down a bigger piece. Tape it down to your work surface with Post-it tape, painter's tape, washi tape...anything to keep it from moving as you go and won't rip your paper afterwards. Now, grab some water, a wide paint brush, and your Distress Inks. Smoosh some ink colors onto your craft sheet, some plastic packaging, anything you have to turn into a paint palette. Use clean water to wet your watercolor paper, then use your inks to paint. I simply did some diagonal stripes until I was happy with the piece. Let it dry or zap it with your heat gun to speed up the process.

Now for the tag - I die cut a piece of Neenah Solar White 110# cardstock and stamped the violet and a couple leaves onto the same paper. Fussy-cut them out and set them aside while you stamp the 'Easter Wishes' onto the tag. I did selective inking to get it onto the two lines (ink one word, stamp, clean, ink other word) but you could also cut the stamp apart.

Assembly time! I used Simon Says Stamp slate gray cardstock to make a standard A2, top-fold card base and cut down a piece of fun foam to use instead of foam tape for my watercolor piece. Attach that to the card base, then break out the foam tape for the tag. I added the tag first, then used a bit of liquid adhesive to add my leaves. Using the liquid adhesive means I had time to nudge them around as needed before it dried. Before adding the violet, I grabbed my clear Wink of Stella marker and added some shimmer to the leaves. The violet was added with some foam tape, then it got a coat of Wink of Stella as well. The middle needed something, so I grabbed a Skittle and popped it on to finish off the flower.

All that was left was to add a bow and this card was done! I love how shimmery the violet came out and how the white tag pops against the watercolor paper.
