New Shop Update!

by - March 13, 2015

If you follow us on Instagram or Facebook, you have probably seen the pictures of our shop progress and to say we are a tad bit excited over here is a HUGE understatement!  My husband goes over almost every day to peak in the shop to see how it has been going and it feels like he is an expectant parent he is so giddy!

If you haven't heard the news, let's see if I can get you up to speed!

Last year we purchased the land to build a shop for So Suzy Stamps!

Then on my birthday last month, we pulled the trigger and I purchased the building.  It was perfect timing and the best part is it will be completely finished in time for our Christmas in July Retreat this year.  Oh ya, baby!

I wish the entire process was as easy as Step One and Step Two, but then where would the fun be, right?

My little family worked in the freezing temperatures and nasty New Mexico wind to get the shop area cleared out, leveled and marked.

It was so funny.  Patrick and Stephan actually were doing synchronized shoveling and didn't even realize it!  I have a whole series of them shoveling and leveling in sync...but I figured I didn't want to bore you to tears!

Now that the land is all set, we are just waiting for the building to be all finished up.

All laid out - It even has a porch!

It's the doorway!
When it is all finished up, I will have them paint it a nice dark gray with white trim, which is going to look SPLENDID with my Turquoise door!!!!

Seriously?  How could I NOT have a turquoise door?  Say good bye to the white door, because it will be getting a face lift!

For the inside of the new shop, I decided to check out IKEA for some fun inspiration and holy cow! Did I ever find it!

I have decided to leave the vaulted ceilings and sweep polka dot sheer material across the length of the interior complete with twinkle lights.  I love the soft look of the sheers while keeping the shop cozy but with the exposed vaulted ceiling it will give it a spacious feeling as well.  Besides who doesn't love twinkle lights???
Needless to say, IKEA was brimming with ideas and my cart was definitely full when I left.  Then we made a final stop at Hobby Lobby for some fun color inspiration for the patio and check out what I found!!!!

How stinking cute is this????    Plus it spins around and says we are closed.  Needless to say, it came home with me as well!  I am still on the hunt for a red British mailbox for the porch and I think my husband is dying to find a red vintage Coke machine as well.  The pop of red will be FABULOUS with the gray building and turquoise door and can you believe it will even go with my logo?  Hmmmmm I wonder how THAT happened?  he he he

As of today, we are looking at a delivery date of next Thursday or Friday for the shop building.  Then we will need to do the finish work on the inside.  If all goes well, we are hoping to have a soft opening in May and then do a big Grand Opening in June.

All I have to say is, I am truly grateful for my incredible design team for keeping things rolling with all of the fabulous cards they have been making while I have been doing all of this "business stuff".

Along with this month's Watercolor Challenge, we also have Justine doing a Wedding Featurette AND on our Flaunt It if You Made It Facebook Group, we are having a Snarkfest Contest from March 14th through March 31st along with some fun snarky prizes.  So be sure and check it out!

Until next time,
Happy Stamping!
