Snarky Flowers and Father's Day Pirates

Good morning everyone! Jennifer here from Caffeinated Papercuts with not one but two cards for you today - one with a bit of snark (you've been warned) and one to get you thinking about Father's Day.

Let's start with a cool Father's Day card, shall we? That way you can skip the snark at the bottom if that's not you're thing. ;) Now Father's Day isn't until June 21st, but released this month was a fabulous new sentiment stamp just for that occasion that matches the lovely Mother's Day stamp. Of course, I couldn't resist embossing on some vellum again and making one manly card:

Because really, what's more manly than pirates?? I stamped the Cross Swords all over my card base to make a great background paper, then heat embossed the Pirate Ship and Father's Day sentiment in platinum. The texture turned out amazing.

Supply list for Happy Father's Day:
So Suzy Stamps - Father's Day, Pirate Ship, Cross Swords
Paper - Bazzill 40# vellum, Candy Buttons
Ink - VersaMark, Simon Says Stamp Soft Navy
Zing Platinum embossing powder

***Snark ahead! If you're easily offended, walk away now. If you need a laugh on a Monday, keep reading!***

Still with me? All righty then - welcome to Monday snark! I can actually see sending this card to some friends who have been having a rough time lately with coworkers, ex-friends, and life in general. It's pretty, it's funny, and it's encouraging that they're not alone.

It's true, it doesn't. Mwahahahahahaha....

I used the Flower Doodle Trio to create a pretty background on my base card again leaving room for the Common Sense sentiment to be stamped in black and heat embossed in clear for texture. The Dragonfly I stamped onto acetate using StazOn ink so that it didn't smear, then fussy cut it out to have her flying through the flowers.

I bent the wings up to have my Dragonfly take flight, and glued down the body with the Range Matte Medium so it wouldn't show. A rounded corner for interest up top and some dots with my Bo Bunny pen and this card was done.

Supply List for Common Sense:
So Suzy Stamps - Dragonfly, Flower Doodle Trio, Common Sense
Paper - Acetate, Bazzill French Mints
Inks - Hero Arts Soft Green, VersaFine Black, StazOn Purple
Hero Arts Clear Embossing Powder
Bo Bunny Pearlescent Pearl Pen in Butterscotch

I hope I've given you some great card ideas today. On both creations I used smaller stamps to create my own background, which I love doing. That way your patterned paper always matches your card! Hopefully you take these ideas and enter this month's "Thank You" challenge! Don't forget that So Suzy Stamps can be found on Instagram, FacebookPinterest, Twitter and now on NING and Flickr! You should join us there and find more inspiration and fun! Happy Crafting!

  1. Love both the cards, the bit where you used the cross swords and created a background out of it is my favorite. :)
