Sunset Silhouette Stamping

Good Morning friends! This is Payel here from Beau Monde Designs with a card using a wonderful new technique - Silhouette Stamping .

Inspiration: I created this card using the June new release stamps, ‘Boy on the Dock’ and ‘Cattails’ from So Suzy Stamps along with some hand drawn images of my own.  These stamps are really versatile and I wanted to try a new technique with these. The ‘Silhouette Stamping’ technique can basically be used with any stamps to get a totally different look thus helping you to really stretch those stamps.

In particular, if you are a little less confident about coloring hair or skin then this technique is definitely for you and you can use it with your figure stamps. Hope you will give this a shot!

How I made my card:
1) I started off by creating the sunset background for my card. For this, I sponged some yellow ink on to the center of a piece of card stock. I created a mask using a circle die, cut it in half and placed this on the yellow sponged area.
2) Then I sponged the sky with ‘Gina K. Designs’ inks in yellow and orange and finally in light and dark blue at the very top of my piece.
3) I created a mask with a piece of masking tape and placed it on the horizon line. I sponged some navy ink to darken the horizon.
4) I removed the mask and sponged in some yellow and orange ink below the horizon. This is the reflection of the sky.
5) To create the water, I again used the navy ink and sponged it starting at the very bottom of my paper and blended it with the yellow and orange reflection.
6) I stamped the ‘Boy on Dock’ and the ‘Cattails’ images on to my paper and colored these completely, with my Black Copic Marker (you could also use a Sharpie).
7) I hand drew the seagulls, sailboat and the mountains on the horizon and also colored these in with my Black Copic Marker. You could use any bird or boat stamps you have for this.
8) I drew in the ripples and shadows with my Grey Copic Markers (C3, C5, C7, C9) and added the highlights with Copic white (you can also use a white gel pen for this).
9) To finish off the card, I stamped my sentiment on the top left hand corner of my card, matted my piece on to some ivory card stock and adhered this to a black card base.

So Suzy Stamps used:
