So for attempt number one, I tried using the marker as my ink pad; outlined the stamp with the marker color, then stamping onto watercolor paper and using a water brush to pull color from the stamped image and push it towards the center. The results weren't bad, but then I messed with it...hoo boy...so, um, I cannot freehand eyes on octopuses with a marker. Lesson learned. I did what I could to make him a bit less creepy, named him Professor Inkling, and didn't throw him away.

Ok, hands up - who knows why his name is Professor Inkling? |
So after I gave up on Inkling there, I started over. This time I stamped Pluto in VersaMark ink and used white embossing powder to help hold in the water and the pigment. I actually switched to a darker color, too. I let him dry a bit, then added in some blue along the outside.
Definitely more the look I was going for! I may try a second, lighter color in there next time for more shading & contrast. I like the colors, but they don't pull with water as much as I thought the would. Still, he's looking darn cute. While he dried, I rekindled my love/hate relationship with my Fuse. I let it warm up for a good 15 minutes and used a standard page protector for my pocket. Once everything was hot and Pluto was dry, I tucked him and had at it. Much better this time, though I swear my little gear wheel doesn't turn correctly - sometimes it would stop turning all together and it was like I was dragging it! Gah!
I did at least remember to leave one side open to add sequins. Pretty blue, clear, and purple to match my Pluto, a quick seal up top, and this ATC was done! Now I only have 6 more to go...LOL
