A Haunting We Will Go

Hey there everyone - Jen here from Caffeinated Papercuts with another fun Halloween card. Are you loving the new release? I have to say, I'm not a huge Halloween card creator but I want nothing more than to play with these stamps! Today I started by making a mixed media tag, then popped it onto an embossed card base,

Crazy fun, right? I love starting with a tag sometimes because then I can use it on anything - a card, scrapbook page, an album...so many possibilities!

I started with a black no. 8 size tag and stamped on the Holly Swirl in gold Delicata ink (hey, today they look like leaves. Stretch your stamps, people!). I then pulled out a burlap stencil and my clear embossing paste and coated the entire tag for some fun texture. Note to self: dear lord does it take forever to dry. I gave up and left it overnight! While that sat, I stamped the Grim Reaper in black ink and clear embossed him for that added pop, then fussy cut him out as no one has gifted me a Scan n Cut yet...LOL

While I was at it, I stamped & heat embossed in white the Black Cats Prowl sentiment, then cut all the words apart to make it fit. Foam tape for them and the Reaper adds dimension and helps them stick to the texture of the tag. See the kitty sequins? I picked those up last year from Pretty Pink Posh and they're puurrrfect!

Speaking of kitties, I just had to use the fabulous Halloween Cat again so I made a tag to go on the tag. Tag-ception!

I used one of the little sheet metal dog tags with a base of StazOn Orange Zest, edging in St. Valentine, and then the kitty stamped in Jet Black. Evidently my GlazOn wasn't dry, though, so kitty got sequins on her hat. The ribbon and twine were presents from my dear friend Terri and go eerily well with this tag. I used the ribbon & twine to attach the metal tag to the big tag - pretty and functional!

I dug out a 5x7 white card base and topped it with a dry embossed panel of thick, metallic cardstock in argyle. All ready to haunt someone's mailbox!

  3. Love this Jen! ^__^ I was chuckling while reading your write up... tag-ception! Super fun post and a lovely card! The mini kitty tag for the tag is adorable but I also loved Mr. Grim Reaper standing in the corner! *Big Hugs*

  4. Fabulous post! You're hilarious and obviously had oodles of fun tag-ceptualizing this marvelous tag/card of yours (well, minus the wait for drying!). The little details - like your kitty tag, the cut out words, the embossed background - add such impact! Yes indeed, this is definitely spooktacular!

Woo hoo! Comment time! I totally do a little happy dance every time a new one pops up!
