Monkey Hugs

When my son was a little guy he enjoyed living in his Spiderman or Buzz Lightyear costume, sleeping in boxes and giving "monkey hugs".

Now my little children are not so little and sometimes I just miss "monkey hugs".  Although, I do not miss the day in and day out of costumes he used to wear.

Earlier this week, I was working on a class for our Copic Club and I thought it would be fun to color the cute little monkey stamp we released this month.  One thing led to another and I ended up making a card that I am contemplating giving to my son this weekend.  The more I think on it though, I may just show it to him, take a picture of him holding it and snag it back.  This little cutie does not belong in a pile of trash under his bed.  (Sorry, G, but ummmm, I know you too well!)

For the little monkey, I colored him with my Copics using:
Monkey: E23, 25, 27, 30, 3, and 33
Banana: E00, Y00, 11, 13, 15
Ears: R20

I cut him out with my Brother ScanNCut 2 with no border.  I wanted him to be completely border free for this card.

I cut out the Bazzill Dotted Swiss Thicket using the Lawn Fawn Hillside Border Die and taped it to a piece of Whisper White from Stampin Up!  Ran it through my Big Shot with an Oval Die and stamped Monkey Hugs in Northern Pine Memento Ink.

I did sponge the background of the white oval with Summer Sky Memento Ink to give it a soft cloudy effect and used foam tape to pop out my little monkey.

The rest of the card was put together using Bazzill's Card Shoppe and Dotted Swiss papers.  He still looked a little naked so I added 3 of DoubleClick Connect Hazelnut Skittles and it was just the right amount of bling to not make it too girlie for my son.

I still haven't finished the inside, but I definitely need to get on it.  I think I may just have to add "gizzard" as a special little surprise!
