Welcome to December's Guest Designer, Miss Laura Gallimore from Crafty Not Shifty! Each month we are going to be featuring a new Guest Designer and they are going to be playing with our stamps throughout the month. Laura is first up on the blog and you can check out her creations starting today and again on December 13th and 20th. So please give her some So Suzy love and check out the cute card she has for us!
Enjoy!
Hello everyone I am so excited to be joining you here at So
Suzy Stamps this weekend. It’s December 6th so I’m well and truly
feeling the Christmas spirit.
I try to do something festive everyday between December 1st
and 25th to keep up the festive fun and today’s festivities include
watching one of my favorite Christmas films, The Grinch. With that in mind today's awesome stamp from
So Suzy Stamps just so happens to feature a quote from The Grinch.
I think that when you have a great sentiment such as this
one you don’t need much else on a card. I have made two examples of cards that
both feature heat embossing and present images.
If you would rather watch how I put these cards together you
can check out my YouTube video here -
For the first card I stamped the sentiment on top of a piece
of white glitter card stock using red pigment ink. As pigment ink stays wet for
a while I was able to add some red glitter embossing powder over the top and
heat set it with my heat tool. I like to use matching pigment ink when using
glitter embossing powder to ensure any gaps in the glitter still match.
I then cut three sizes of gift boxes from silver glitter
card and added some red and white twine to tie up the gift boxes and add a bow.
I layered the stamped
white glitter card stock panel over the top of some sliver glitter card stock.
I then mounted this on to a white side folding A2 size note card and added the
gift boxes to finish it off.
For the second card I inked the edges of a white top folding
4 ¼ by 5 ½ inch note card using clear Versamark ink and heat embossed them using
Ranger Liquid Platinum embossing powder to give a distressed golden edge to the
card.
I die cut the sketch present die from some white cardstock
and some matching liquid platinum embossed card I created.
The sentiment was stamped in black and heat embossed it with
clear embossing powder to add some shine. Then all that was left to do was to
inlay the sketch gift die cut and glue all of the pieces on to the card front.
To add color to the bow of the present I used my spectrum
noir alcohol ink markers and Ranger Xmas Red Stickles glitter glue.
Every year at Christmas I think it is easy to get caught up
in the materialistic things and forget that while you are hopefully warm and
safe at home not everyone in the world is as fortunate. I will be sending these
cards to friends of mine and in place of a gift for them I will be including an
item from the Oxfam Unwrapped Gifts. There are many things you can buy from $12
- $5,000 that will help a family or village less fortunate than you.
I have chosen a pair of chickens along with training on
their care. The chickens will help a family thrive by providing eggs to sell
and eat or rear into new chickens. If you are struggling to find the perfect
gift for someone who has everything I could encourage you to check out their
website or your local charities.
