Long Time No Sea Stamp of the Month feat. Terri!

I'm having so much fun with the April Release for the Stamp of the Month Club here at So Suzy Stamps.   For this project, I wanted to switch up the scene so I did a good bit of masking, breaking out my washi tape and covering up the parts of the stamp that I didn't want inked up.

Here's the original image.  You can see that I've moved the sentiment and completely removed the beach chair, sunglasses and drink.

I love to color skies, so I used various colors mixing various ink brands and using my Tim Holtz waterbrush to transfer the color onto my watercolor paper.  And....I made shark fins.

As luck would have it, I had just the stamp to accomplish that.  Suzy's "grass" stamp.  Oh sure, I could have hand drawn those fins but where's the fun in that?!  I love finding interesting uses for my stamps.  The curve and shape was perfect so all I had to do was simply swipe my black Tombow dual brush marker across one of the blades of grass and stamp.  By the way, the grass stamp is retiring so if you want it, don't wait.  As is the Cloud stamp, which I also added to my scene.

My entire scene was inked with the Eqyptian Sand ink from the Coastal Breeze collection.  I also used  the same ink for the sand on my card.   Check out all the ink collections here: So Suzy Stamps Ink Bites

Next, I wanted to place my sentiment across the bottom and create a really pretty border with some of my favorite ribbons from The Ribbon Resource.  It's all about layering so I've got three layers which includes this stenciled flower image by The Crafters Workshop.  I trimmed around the flower and placed this on top of my ribbons for really great dimension.  One of the best pieces of advice I ever got, back in the early days of crafting, was, "layer, layer, layer".  It makes all the difference.

I realized when I was all done, that I created a little snark without meaning to.  With the placement of the sharks it gives the quote, "Long time no sea" new meaning don't you think?  As in, somebody became shark bait.  That's why it's been so long since you've seen them....haha.  I even made a little "no swimming allowed" sign but decided it looked too cluttered so maybe I'll save that for another day.  I should probably also mention, the designer paper that I'm using today is the Anchored collection from Authentique.  It has just the right tropical, floral fauna that I was looking for.

By the way, the next quarter of the SAMClub started this month but there's still time for you to sign up.  You can choose a 3 month membership or longer if you'd like.  Membership packages are available to USA, Canada and drum roll..... International!  I've already had a sneak peek at future releases and they are soooo fun!  You won't be disappointed!  If you love coastal, beachy, nautical fun, what are you waiting for?  Plus, you get to hang out with the cool kids in a private Facebook group, enter SAMClub giveaways and challenges.  So much fun to be had.  Thanks for stopping by today.  I hope you enjoyed my project!  Terri
