So Suzy Stamps 2016 Design Team Blog Hop

Welcome everyone to the 2016 So Suzy Stamps Design Team Blog Hop! We have a brand new team bringing you So Suzy projects for the rest of 2016 and I am quite excited for you to get to know each and every one of them! We thought it would be easier if we did a Blog Hop for our first month to get you acquainted with them and we are the first stop on your Blog Hop Adventure. Also, if you find a favorite card along your journey, look for a special discount code for your favorite new DT member that will be valid the entire month of June!  Plus, we have our New Release going on!

This month we focused a bit more on sympathy stamps, which are never fun, but unfortunately are a necessary evil. I lost a childhood friend last week and I am headed to his funeral this weekend and this is one of the cards I have made for his wife. Neil was one of those people who was ALWAYS laughing, had a big smile on his face no matter the situation and was extremely cheerful. I wanted to bring that cheeriness into the card but using brighter colors that remind me of contagious personality.
  1. I have a large shoe box that I do all of my "colorbursting" in and I keep a paper towel in the bottom to soak up any excess water and to make sure it doesn't seep through the bottom of the box.
  2. I used Lemon Yellow, Lime Green and Fuchsia for my color combination.
  3. I poofed some powder onto my Marshmellow Bazzill card stock and then sprayed with my squirt bottle.
  4. Once it was dry, I ran the panel through my Big Shot using the Lawn Fawn Stitched Border Die for a second layer size.
  5. For the background, I wanted something shiny and I am so in love with the Christine Adolph Rub Ons that I decided to opt for a foiled look.

How gorgeous is THAT?!
I used the Butterfly Rub Ons from Christine Adolph in conjunction with the Champagne Deco Foil and it gave me just the look I was after! The best part is I had enough left over to bring it over to the inside of the card.

Talk about in love! I am a big proponent of "finishing" the card. Plus, it gives the card that extra weight to balance it. Personally, it just makes the card mean and feel so much more valuable.

This is the inside of the card. See how nice it looks!
Now when it is opened, it the love just continues.
  • Taking my paint brush, I dipped it into some water and just brushed the left side of my paper
  • Then I used the Fuchsia and Lemon Yellow Colorburst and poofed some powder onto the wet edges
  • Once it was dry, I took the remaining edge of my Rub On and layered the Champagne Foil over it
  • I wanted to keep with the look from the front of the card so I brought the Gold layer from the front to the inside and then embossed the inside sentiment with gold embossing powder.
  • I also made sure that I used my Stitched Border Die for the second layer (I LOVE that die!)
I embossed the Walk Beside Us sentiment in Gold Embossing Powder onto a piece of Vellum Cardstock. I then wrapped it around the Color Burst panel and adhered it to the back with tape. I did not want to take away from the simplicity of the card, but it did need a little bit of something on the front.
I had a few of the Pale Gold Nuvo Drops already made and they worked PERFECT!!!
The card may not have been made for the best of circumstances, but it was comforting to make something for Nichole that will hopefully remind her of how wonderful Neil was and always will be.
On that note, what do you say you start off this Blog Hop and see what Miss Martha has in store for you and be sure to leave some love!
